In anticipation of tomorrow’s Little League U.S. Championship game tomorrow, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has organized two watch parties for friends, families, neighbors and fans of the Jackie Robinson West All Stars. They will play Nevada in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
The game will be shown live on big screens tomorrow on ABC at 2:30 p.m. at:
· The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located at 1250 W. 119th Street
· State Street in front of the Chicago Theater (between Randolph and Lake St.)
“With their spirit, positive attitude and success on the field, the Jackie Robinson West All-Stars have repeatedly shown why they are the pride of Chicago,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Neighborhoods throughout the city have come together to support these kids throughout the Little League World Series, which is why we’re holding two watch parties for tomorrow’s U.S. Championship game to allow more people to gather and cheer on this team together.”
The Jackie Robinson West All Stars is comprised of 11- and 12-year-olds from South and Southwest side communities such as Auburn Gresham, Englewood, Chatham, Morgan Park and Washington Heights.
State Street will be closed between Lake Street and Randolph Street beginning at 12:30 pm. The street will remain closed until a short time after the game is over.
The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is located at 1250 W. 119th Street. Doors open at 1:30 pm and seating will be provided. No outside food or beverage is allowed, but a concession stand will be available.
